2007 marks the 31st year of the Colorado Adoption Project (CAP), classifying it as one of the longest running studies of its kind. The purpose of the CAP is to study both nature and nurture, to determine the genetic predispositions as well as the environmental influences that contribute to traits such as intelligence, personality, and behavior. In order to do this a wide range of interviews are conducted with participating families. These include in-person and telephone interviews that measure cognition, social attitudes, and behavioral choices. The CAP is an ongoing research project of the Institute for Behavioral Genetics, which is located on the east campus of the University of Colorado.
