The exciting possiblities of combining developmental behavioral genetics and life-span developmental psychology are explored in this chapter. The first half of the chapter consists of a description of quantitative genetic theory and methods that underlie developmental behavioral genetics. In the second half of the chapter, mutual interests of developmental behavioral geneticists and life-span developmental psychologists are discussed, and relevant research is summarized in terms of broad principles of life-span developmental behavioral genetics.
