What is USAIL?

The USAIL project consists of an independent study course in Unix system administration, a glossary, and a reference library. The study course is laid out in a series of topic that describe general areas of system administration. Each topics contains a number of modules that can be viewed as chapters in a book. We've tried to make the modules as independent as possible, so that each one can serve as a stand-alone resource.

At the end of each topic is an online quiz that you can take to guage your understanding of the material. Most topics also include lab exercises. You'll also find a master quiz page that consists of three comprehensive quizzes at the end of the study course.

The reference library can be accessed via the "library" button that appears at the top and bottom of documents that were written for this project. The library is divided into library lists on different subjects of interest to system administrators. Each list contains links to documents and tutorials on that subject. We are doing our best to keep these links up to date and accurate. If you find a link that no longer goes anywhere, mail us and we'll change it.

The glossary is searchable and can be accessed via the "glossary" button. You can also view the complete list of terms that begin with a specific letter.
