A Brief History in Time
I earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in Mathematics and Chemistry in 1972, before PC's or even calculators. Yes, that was in the days of the slide rule and the Vietnam War. After graduation, I worked at the University of Wisconsin as a research assistant in phytobacteriology. After marrying Tom Siewert in 1977, I moved to Pennsylvania where I worked in industry as a Quality Control Manager for a candy manufacturing company. When our first son was born in 1981, I became a full time mom until 1991, when I went back into research as a Professional Research Assistant for Dr. Mark Winey, in the Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biologyat the University of Colorado, Boulder. I have been a research assistant with Dr. John Hewittat the Institute of Behavioral Geneticsand a graduate student at the Department of Applied Mathematicssince 1999. We have 3 children: Peter, (born 1981), John, (born 1983), and Jill, (born 1985).
