Field Trip to Museum of Natural Sciences

Dear Parents,

Wow! Time flies. Already, we have come to a close on our first trimester of fourth grade. We have witnessed tremendous leaps in each and every child.

This month, we look forward to meeting with you and discussing your child's progress and the first report card.

See you then!!!

Ms. Dolph

Mrs. Vosloh & Mrs. O'Loughlin

Thank You!!!!!!

Thank you to all who attended our 4th Grade Class Meeting. It was so good to touch base with each of you. We look forward to our next Class Meeting sometime this spring.

Also, thanks so much for the fantastic Halloween Party. The 4th Graders had a "spooktacular" time doing crafts, playing games and eating tasty treats!

Social Studies and Science Update

Government - Our study of the New Nation Unit is well under way! We have discussed the main reasons for the Constitutional Convention and we are in the process of memorizing and understanding the meaning of the Preamble. Ask your child to recite it for you!

We look forward to learning about the Bill of Rights, as well as the various levels and functions of our national, state and local governments.

Geology- We have been learning more about our home planet Earth during the unit on Geology. We have studied the Earth's layers and have each written a fictitious recount on our "Journey to the Center of the Earth." Please stop by and read these wonderful and creative accounts posted on the wall outside of our room.

In December, we look forward to exploring some hands-on science activities while on a field trip to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.

Conflict-Mediation Training

During the morning of November 19th, all HP staff will be attending a professional development training on conflict mediation. The training will help establish school wide consistency in dealing with student conflicts which may arise throughout the year. It is our goal to ensure each student a safe and supportive learning environment.

FYI

Due to time constraints, the 4th grade team will no longer switch classes for science and social studies.

Coat Drive

If your child has outgrown a winter coat, please consider donating it to our Coats for Kids campaign.  Look for the drop-off boxes by the office.

Computer Lab

Fourth Graders are continuing to practice their keyboarding skills using the Mavis Beacon Program. In addition, we are also using the internet for researching information on Mount St. Helen and Mount Everest.
